This majestic oak tree caught my attention on a trip to the Bird Runner Wildlife Refuge in the eastern portion of Geary county. Although there are many areas of prairie grass on the refuge, there is also a diverse collection of wooded regions that add interest to the landscape. The spring offers the vibrant green of new growth, and the new leaves of the vegetation were catching the light and producing a greenish tint in the confined woods. Oaks possess some of the most interesting structures, and are indeed my favorite tree to photograph. I placed the camera low to the ground in an attempt to capture the interesting vegetation in the foreground, and the small overgrown path made a nice line into the woods.
