This image was captured at the Mount Mitchell Heritage Prairie in Wabaunsee county during a spring visit. The property was scheduled to be burned, but unfortunately the high winds prevented the burn that day. I decided to take advantage of the clear conditions and capture some late winter and early spring images nevertheless. The golden grass was a nice contrast to the deep blue sky that day, and the lone tree is a striking subject against the sweeping cirrus clouds.
