During the spring following the prairie burns, the grass and wildflowers emerge with a new vigor. In this area of Wabaunsee county there is an interesting transition region possessing the characteristics of both the prairie and wooded regions. As I drove to my destination the sky was a featureless blue, but soon a beautiful cover of cumulus clouds began to fill the sky. Not only do these type of clouds provide limitless shapes and textures in the sky, they form nice shadow variations on the prairie that add great interest to widely-framed scenes. I waited for the clouds to create an interesting set of conditions on the land to make the exposure.
