There are a number of waterfalls in Kansas, and Pillsbury Crossing is one that occurs in the Flint Hills region of the state. Waterfalls are always an interesting subject that allow some variation of the shutter speed to create various desired effects. The falls can be frozen with fast speeds, but can also be softened with slightly slower shutters. With ND filters or extremely small apertures, the water can even be given an extremely soft appearance approaching the look of fog or mist. This exposure was made with a shutter speed of 1/15 second, which gives some softness, but still preserving some of the sharpness.
