Including astronomical bodies in architectural photography can heighten the interest, but requires some planning and careful attention to exposure. Relying on a home-made astronomical calculator, I knew that the moonset and sunrise were going to be approximately coincident on this morning, and that it would be possible to capture the moon in this photograph of the Field House at dawn. Correct exposure of the moon, revealing texture and detail is often difficult due to its relative brightness.
